Saltmeadow was built in 1978 and left largely alone until 2022, when the current owners gave it the reworking it had been waiting forty years for.
The original brick and timber structure was kept and stripped back, and a new kitchen wing was added along the estuary side with full-height glazing and a covered outdoor dining terrace. The result is a family house with genuine 1970s bones and none of the 1970s problems.

Estuary rather than ocean: warmer water, no swell, and a tidal channel that fills and empties twice a day. Gardens run down to the reeds, the sailing club has a waiting list, and the school is the reason most families end up here rather than on the bluff. Prices run roughly a third below Calder for comparable square footage.
